Andreas Koch is Professor for Social Geography at the University of Salzburg. He is head of the Social Geography Research Group at the Department of Geography and Geology. He was Head of the CEPR from 2015 to 2017 and acts now as Deputy Head. He is also vice-chair of the international research centre for social and ethical issues. Furthermore, he is book review editor of the Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation.

Koch studied geography, political sciences, and spatial planning at LMU Munich, did his PhD at RWTH Aachen about ICT and geospatial effects, and his habilitation about social system theory in the domain of social geography (also at RWTH Aachen).
